Take the Snakes

4/22/09

My last sentence in my last entry said “Rockies make me wish I was watching this game on TV” as I have been taking in the road games via Gameday Audio on my computer. Last nights game against the D-Backs was one I would have liked to have watched.

Brad Hawpe has been one of those Rockies who I know is good but never payed a lot of attention to. Brad is a trooper and I like his style.

As long as my kids haven’t lost their wristbands they’ll get to run around the bases after the game on Sunday as part of the Rockies Rookies Kids Fan Club.

I just watched an interview with Steve Martin talking about the making of “The Jerk”.

It’s hard to believe it’s been 30 years since that movie was released. If you have never seen it, it’s a must see classic.

Everybody has their favorite line in “The Jerk”

Mine is…    “He hates these cans!”

De La Rosa will be on the mound this afternoon hungry for his first win. This would be a great time to see him shine. A win today would give us the D-Back series and send the Rockies back home with a postive vibe and a few wins under their belt.

The Rockies are going to need it because say what you want,….the Dodgers are no joke this season. Manny Ramirez is a huge part of the enthusiasm of his team but in reality the Dodgers have many weapons besides his power.

I want to see the Rockies destroy the Dodgers here at Coors. I want to see Helton hit his first homer at home. I’d like to be the lucky SOB who catches that homer but seeing it would be sufficient.

I wait at the gates for them to swing open,

Excited for the game and a win I’m hopin.

Players on the field the batting cages are out,

There’s a shot to left field it’s mine no doubt.

It’s a piece of the game it’s all part of the fun,

and if you’re on your game you might get more than one.

To be continued…DThumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image

The Jerk is possibly Steve Martin’s best film, EVER. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him to better comedy at any other time in his life then when he was on the set of that film. Anyway, email me back and let me know what you want to do about that thing in September D…I’m down for that. Although, you’re going to have to put up with a Mets fan :/ It should be an awesome series though. Get back..

I was watching “The Highlander” last night and can still not believe that was made in 1986. Am I getting old, or are the movies just aging really quickly?
I put Brad Hawpe on my MLBBloggers Fantasy Team because I truly thin he is going to have a banner year in 2009. He has been under the radar, and people discount people who play in Denver for some reason.
I had an old buddy who was in the Rockies farm system in 2006 who tld me about Hawpe, and I have been waiting for his time to come in the MLB.
“The Jerk” is the movie that paved the way for Steve Martin to get another classic like “Dead Men Wear Plaid” into our hearts and minds. You should read his autobiography. His Dad was not fond of his comedic ways, so he left home and went to San Francisco to begin his comedic roots. Great “Wild and Crazy” guy. I think he still holds the record for hosting SNL.

RAYSREN-I forgot about “Dead Men Wear Plaid” that was a great movie. I also agree the Rockies are overlooked or underlooked on a regular basis. I hope at some point that may work to our favor again as it did in 2007. Ahh “The Highlander”, “There can be only one” I loved that series, but it was a long time ago. Some year I plan to watch the entrire series of “The Sopranos”. I’ve never even seen one episode…D
