Tell me, who is this season for?

8/19/08

TodHelton.jpg

Todd Helton 1st Baseman

 My favorite Rockies player.

Placed on the DL July 4, 2008. Recently placed on the 60 day DL and had all of his back/injury information and MRI results sent to Dr. Robert Watkins, a spine Surgeon from the Republic of California.

                              think positive.jpgTHINK POSITIVE

I don’t want this to be the end of the season or  career for Todd.

I’m just not ready for that, nor is he, or Rockies fans for that matter.

He deserves the chance next season  to prove himself again.

Todd first base.jpg

Something just seems right when Helton is guarding first base.

Maybe it’s familiarity.

Hurdle 13.jpg

We have all watched Hurdle shuffle players into different positions all season long. When Todd was on first base..HE was on first.

Hurdle wouldn’t think of moving him. He would replace him..but not move him…Respect.

I went to a lot of home games last year and his presence is missing from this team this season.

Especially right now as were making the final push to the end..

At this point, the Rockies need to do a whole lot a winning or I know two other teams that need to do a whole lot of losing. Anything is still possible we know that.

Todd Arms up.jpg

I always sensed that last years amazing run was all for Todd Helton. This team wanted to impress him. To gain his respect.

 To win it for him.

He is a quiet type of leader. However, don’t mistake his silence for lack of passion.

His silence is his passion.

Think about it.

So I guess my question is.

Who is this season for??

Good Luck #17, I hope your back lets you come back..

Rockies take on the Dodgers in LA for a three game set. Rockies are currently on a three game winning streak coming off of a sweep of the Nationals in Washington. The D-Backs and Dodgers are tied for first in our division and the Rockies are seven games back.

Ubaldo Jimenez is on the mound tonight for the Rockies and Kuroda for the Dodgers.

Game starts at 8:10 MST.

Rockies get hosed by the Big Unit

Hunter and Alice.JPG

Hosed-thumb-100x66.jpg

First in line today.

We hung out with Rockies longtime season ticket holder Alice.

Hunters first ball 8-12.JPG

Hunter and I made it to the Pavilion first. Hunter ran straight down to the field.

He asked Aaron Cook for a ball that was up against the fence.

Cookie tossed it to him without hesitation.

Thank you Aaron! Hunter snagging -12.JPG

Hunter has been out snagging me the last couple of games(ok all year).

He and I were in different parts of the Pavilion for most of BP.

I snapped this picture of him doing his thing.

He is all business.  BP left of me 8-12.JPG

Clowns to the left of me BP right of me 8-12.JPG.

Jokers to the right. RPR Shutout 8-12.JPG

Here I am stuck in the middle again.

I had a chance to snag two baseballs today and misjudged them both.

Hunters three 8-12.JPG Hunter met up with me after BP and he had snagged a total of three balls…Impressive.

While I was taking this picture, a boy about Hunters age came up and asked if Hunter had gotten all those balls at BP today.

Hunter said “Yep”. The boy said that he hadn’t been able to get one. Hunter said ” sometimes it’s like that”.

I had to bit my lip because that came across kind of mean.

The little boy turned around and walked back to his mom. I looked at my boy and he knew what he needed to do. I didn’t have to say a word. Hunter ran over and gave that boy one of the balls he had snagged today. The little boy was elated and Hunter had that big old grin he gets when he knows he’s done something cool.

He’s getting it…my boy is getting it….Proud dad moment

Got to give some props tonight to my friend Dan. I straight up saw him catch Chris Iannetta’s home run hit in the second…

GREAT catch Dan..How many home runs balls is that for you like 40?

Dan and his daughter Emily earlier this——-> season.

I’m sitting close to where Dan caught that ball today at this Thursdays game with Berned..Maybe I’ll get lucky and catch my first live home run ball..

Then again, probably not if im sitting near Dan.

Below is a shot of Ryan Spilborghs dad during BP standing beside Robert. You think he bought that jersey??

Atkins and Tulo.JPG

<—Hawpe and Tulo

I took over two hundred  pictures today.

Way too many to upload on here, but I will share the good ones (or at least the ones I like), with you.

The Brat Pack Group pic.JPG Killin Time.JPG  The Big Unit picks up career win number 294 tonight. I hate losing to the D-Backs, but seeing Veteran Randy Johnson pitch was cool. He managed to keep the Rockies guessing this evening. The Big Unit 8-12.JPG   What’s been up with Ubaldo his last couple of games? Has he gone back to his old ways? I’m seeing a pattern and its not pretty colors.  Our pitching has to drastically improve soon. I like Ubaldo.I wonder what shook him. Was it Randy Johnson? Guess I can’t blame him. Ubaldo 8-12.JPGRockies lose to the D-backs 4-2. We had chances in the fifth and seventh inning but couldn’t make anything of it. Such has been this season.

I’m still with you Rockies but losing at home sucks.

Nine games back with forty one games left. Hmmm..it’s still possible, but we are 1-9 against the D-Backs this year.

That near collision with Barmes and Hawpe was seriously close. Glad they both are ok.

Next game for me is Thursday with B.

Rockies switch bait and snag the Marlins

Ubaldo11.jpg

8/1/08

Ubaldo Jimenez..Wow..That was some amazing pitching tonight and nice job saving the Rockies some face in Florida.

This guy is a young, well mannered,  respectful player who can throw a hundred mile an hour fastball if he chooses to. Good things are going to continue to happen to him.

Ubaldo pitched seven full innings and allowed only two hits and walked three. He  struckout ten Marlins.

Jimenez has won six of his last seven starts and currently has as streak of four wins. WOW !

HIs  ERA is 1.29 in the last four games he has pitched..BradH.jpg

Rockies were scoreless until the third inning when Brad Hawpe hit a line drive to center to score Taveras and Holliday.

Thumbnail image for iannetta.jpg

Chris Iannetta hit a single to center field in the fifth and he was able to score Tulowitzki and Holliday. He is big part of the Rockies sucess recently.

Thumbnail image for OmarQ.jpg

Also in the same inning, Omar Quintanilla hit a grounder to left field that  scored home Ian Stewart

The  Marlins remained scoreless until the bottom of the ninth when Josh Willingham singled on a line drive to Matt Holliday and was able to score Jeremy Hermida. Then, Mike Jacobs hit a sacrifice fly to Taveras to score Jorge Cantu. Those would be the Marlins only two runs.

Brian Fuentes picks up his 19th win this season.

Final Score for this sweatfest…5-2 Rockies over the Marlins.

Rockies and  the Marlins are tied one a piece in this four game set.

Next game..Saturday Aug, 2..5:10 PM MST…D Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Green Floppy Hat.JPG

Happy Fathers Day, Call your dad

6/15/08

MyleeFD.jpg

My Fathers day present from Mylee  <————

Rockies win the series against the White Sox.

Fuentes loads the bases in the ninth with two out.

Holliday avoids a collision to make an awesome catch to win this 5-3.

Thats four straight series we’ve won !!

Ubaldo Jimenez will be the starting pitcher for tomorrow’s game. At 1-6 he needs this win. We need this win. Time for a serious win streak going into the All-Star Break.

I’ve see this team starting to solidify in the last couple of weeks. Even the pitching.

Ubaldo..it’s all up to you..lead the way, amigo.

DadFD.jpg                                                            My Pops.

Thanks for always being there to give me a second chance.

To those of you who are Fathers …Enjoy your special Day

                                                        You deserve it !!

Atkins is back with a hell of a whack

6/11/08

Garret_Atkins12.jpgGarrett wastes no time letting everyone know that he’s back at full strength.

Garrett blew us all away by scoring the winning run in the 9th and defeating the Giants 1-0.

UIbaldo Jimenez went toe to toe with Giants pitcher Tim Lincecum for  seven scoreless innings.

Ubaldo is amazing to watch when he is on his game, wicked fastball.

Sucks Ubaldo had such a bad start this year.

Lets hope these kind of performances from him are the norm for the rest of the season.

Funny how you can score ten runs the day before and squeak by with a one run win the next day..You gotta love baseball, no predictability. Watching this team now you can see the wheels in motion. No predictions here, I’m just making an observation, or wishful thinking aloud.

Things are clicking..I feel it

tuloslilpic.jpg
Thumbnail image for modesto nuts.gif
Tulowitzki begins his rehab assignment with the Modesto Nuts..lol. They’re the the Rockies single A team. That’s got to suck for Tulo. “Hey Tulo, what team do you play for”, Tulo responding “um, I play with the nuts”.

Get better quick dude. Thats embarassing.

Hunter’s baseball team lost yesterday. He was able to play center field and 2nd base. He didn’t get a chance to bat this time. None of the kids on his team even got a hit.

Poor Hunter, he kept saying if he just could have gotten a chance to bat he’d have got a hit. Nine year olds don’t really understand how a rotation works and how coaches have to be fair to everyone. He just knows he doesn’t like to lose and he hates sitting on the bench.

My little man was visibly upset the whole evening.

I love his dedication…were still working on being a good loser.

Rockies play at 1pm today. Wish I could be there.

QuitComplainingAboutYourJob.jpg      GOOD NEWS !

I interviewed for another job within my company yesterday and i got it!!

It is a lot closer drive and will save me about an hour a day.

     Go Rockies…D

The Beermakers in the House of Coors tonight

6/6/08

T1_1011_ubaldo.jpg

It’s up to you Ubaldo.

Torrealba got this streak in motion with that motivating bench brawl.

Aaron Cook got us the second win.

You need to step up tonight, let go of the previous losses and make new tonight.

You got the skills man.

Relax, the pressure of a repeat of last year is out the door.

 Figure it out Ubaldo.

Show us what you got.

Welcome Rockies new pitcher, left handed, Christian Friedrich from Eastern Kentucky.

He was the 25th pick in the first round.

His best pitch is a curveball.

Lets hope he can help an ailing Rockies pitching crew.

Rockies play the Brewers today and have currently won two games in a row.

The game tonight is at 7:05 and I’ll be there early for BP. I

have a good feeling about tonight.

Torrealba got a three game suspension for the brawl the other night and Kemp got four games.

 I’m ok with that ruling…D

A win without a fight , C’mon Friday night

6/3/10

Yep, on the bottom looking up. I can’t say it’s unfamiliar territory, in fact you might even call it comfortable.

Naa, screw that it’s not comfortable, I’m not sure what to call it. But what ever “It” is, “It” sucks.

I hate losing. I bet you didn’t know that about me. I thought it strange all this World Series hoopla last year.

Fun at the time, but now as I look back it seemed premature and out of place.

SUPERSTITION.jpg I’m not saying we didn’t earn the right to be in the World Series because we damn sure did. The problem was it all happened too fast.

You’d have to be Stevie Wonder not to have seen it during the World Series and you can most certainly see it  now.

We’re not the same team this season. I know, it sucks.

The only semi-bright light is that when your in last place, peoples expectations seem to drop.

The catch being, the Rockies made it to the World Series last season and the fans expectations of this team this season are extremely high.

Thumbnail image for Wishful thinking 7-5.JPGIt takes a lot less effort to critique than to support. Now is when you find out who the true fans are.

I’ll be there, cheering on my team, taking pictures, snagging balls and having fun.

I know a few other people who will be there regardless.

The Rockies took the series against the Dodgers today with a final score of 2-1.

jeff baker.jpg

Jeff Baker hit the homer that scored the Rockies two runs.

Aaron Cooks pitching looked consistant, thats good. We needed to see that after his Mets loss last series. Looks like Ubaldo Jimenez will be pitching on Friday.

Lets make it three wins in a row .

                                                        Go Rockies…D
