Twenty five, until my little drive

Not MBU 1-29-09.gif(<—This is not the Moblile Blogging Unit)

Twenty-five days until the Mobile Blogging Unit reaches mobile blogability. I hope I don’t have any internet connectivity issues whilst I’m mobily blogging.

Congrats to Ubaldo Jimenez. The Rockies signed him to a four year deal worth 10 million and it’s loaded with all kinds of performance incentives.

The Rockies need Ubaldo to stay healthy this season.

JFFG.jpgWho knows if Jeff Francis will be starting in April. He’s still having issues with that pesky shoulder of his.

Cook, Jimenez, Marquis, who’s the Top Dog if Francis is injured and can’t start off the season?

Is Francis still the Top Dog even if he’s healthy?

I wish I could be in Tucson mid-February to see the pitchers and catchers report. I keep hoping for a last minute surprise in the Rockies bullpen, but at this point I wouldn’t bet on it.

It does get me to thinking, “Who among the Rockies bullpen is ready to take it to the next level?”

UJ.jpgMy moneys on Ubaldo, but I still have high hopes of Francis returning to his past glory. Cook is a powerful weapon but tends to wear thin with too much usage.

MannyRamirez u neverknow.jpgGuess we’ll begin to see in a couple of weeks.

I wish we had somebody new to get excited about.

I wonder how Manny Ramirez would do at this altitude? Manny in a Rockies uniform, now that would be a sight. I’d take Manny for a season. The guy has spark there is no denying that.

I have big hopes for Tulo this season which starts off with him not having any major injuries.

It’s time for this dude to make his mark with the Rockies.

You want to be leader of this team Tulo, show us what you got brotha, and do it all season.

I really believe this is going to be his breakout year.

Tulowitzki healthy and producing all season long is a good thing for the Rockies.

And a good thing for the fans.

IS1-29-09.jpgIan Stewart, here’s another guy bursting at the seams with talent and waiting for everything to click.

Andy 9-15-08.JPGMan I love talking/writing baseball.

I need some warm weather and a break from the stresses of life.

cactus_baseball_1-29-09.jpg I’ve earned this little baseball vacation. I still have a spot on the MBU available. No worries here if it doesn’t get filled. Right now it’s Andy, Robert and yours truely.

If all goes his way Robert will be staying in Tucson when Andy and I head back to Denver.

Someday I’ll be able to do that. When I retire it’ll be summers in Colorado and down to Arizona for Fall Ball and Spring Training.

           You’ve got to stay busy.

Thank you all for the great comments on my last entry on concerts.

Thanks for stopping by the Rant and reading my filler. You know me, I’m just waiting for the real stuff…DThumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image

    Hey D,
I’m with you in thinking that this season has the definite possibility to be a break out year for several players. With Iannetta behind home and being able to get these young nerves back down on the ground I think we’ll see much less of the out of control pitching. It seemed we were really starting to see that towards the later part of last year with both Jimenez and De La Rosa. I really hope Francis comes back strong. I’ve got a soft spot in my heart for him. Being a fellow science geek, I’m in awe that he also has this amazing athletic ability.
I’m ecstatic that Spilborghs got the starting position, he’s definitely earned that. As for Tulo, well, as for everyone on the team, let’s hope they can stay healthy. That should make a huge difference.
(Can’t wait to finally see the MBU)

I have a friend who was in the Rockies system a few years ago, but pretty much left to go to law school a few years ago named Cory Slavik. He was a third base prospect that they were trying to make into a utility man.

He used to tell me about Ian Stewart and Iannetta. He always talked about their power and the fact these guys ate and slept wanting to play in Coors Field. Now it is their time to show their stuff, and this might be the best team for a few years, barring some great trade, so the time is now.

A few pieces might have come and gone, but the core of this squad is solid and should shake a few trees in 2009. Just hope they are not coconut trees, you do not need any injuries.

RAYSREN-I totally agree, the core is solid, and this team is filled with players who eat, sleep and breathe baseball. I’m so excited for this season. The chemistry is here, I’m here, this can be our year if we Rockies fans believe…D

God, Tulo. That picture always collapses my lungs. I MISS BASEBALL.
The MBU sounds like so much fun. Spring Training is a blast except that one half of me got sunburned while the other half was pale–always the right side to the sun.
I hope you guys have fun! Maybe someday I’ll update my blog…

D- I am quite excited to finally see the Mobile Blogging Unit. I am also very jealous of all the people who get to go to Spring Training while I wait at home… and look for a job. Yipee…

I think Ubaldo is going to do some great things for us this season. Although he had a rough time last season, he’s making some good strides toward becoming a very valuable pitcher. With Helton sitting in the dugout most of last season, and Holliday out of the picture, I can easily see Tulo becoming the face of the Rockies. The picture you have, he autographed for me. I almost died. Ian Stewart has definitely earned a spot on the roster, his performance last season was amazing! I’m looking for big things from Spilborghs this season despite his like… .203 or something BA in the Pacific Mexican league.

I am so ready for the offseason to be over. It has seemed like forever since I have seen anybody in a baseball uniform. The picture of Tulo makes him look really cute and now I am dying to see some Mets pics but there is nothing new to see!

    Spring Training is so close!
